Looking after your wellbeing can help you feel more balanced, cope with challenges, and build confidence for adulthood.

Well-being isn’t about feeling happy all the time, it’s about having support and tools to help when things feel hard.

Lets start with understanding: what is mental health?

Know that everyone suffers with mental health at some point in their life, it’s quite normal but it is important to know how to look after it.

Your Emotions

Talking to an adult you trust can help

Many young people experience strong emotions during this stage of life. You might sometimes feel:

  • Stressed or anxious

  • Low or unmotivated

  • Overwhelmed or burnt out

  • Lonely or different from others

  • Angry or frustrated

  • Numb or disconnected

Things that can affect mental health include:

  • Exams and pressure about the future

  • Changes in placements or relationships

  • Feeling different from peers

  • Big life decisions

  • Uncertainty about what comes next
